Emtee On South African Hip Hop & How He Writes His Songs.
Emtee shunned a critic who said he sounded like an American wannabe, stating firmly that he is proudly a South African and that he composes his music in about ten South African dialects.
The contention began after Emtee, using the Twitter record of his Emtee Records label, joined the discussion about the supposed death of South African’s hip-hop genre. He was of the assessment hip-hop wasn’t dead.
Reacting to his thoughts on the genre, a fan had expressed that hip-hop wasn’t dead but South African hip-hop is. You can look at the tweet below:
HIP HOP ain't dead but SA hip hop is..
And the whole world dresses up like Americans!! Not hip hopians— Ta.mnanderr!!š§ (@detective_nai) September 7, 2021
Emtee had joked about the “syntax” the fan used while depicting South African hip-hop as dead. One more fan flew on the string, reminding the “LOGAN” trap star that he really sounds like an American on his Instagram Stories. He wound up lumping Emtee with a term he called American wannabes.
Even the way you speak on you live IG you sound American, yall Americans wannabes

Provoked by the tag, Emtee had clarified that he’s proudly a South African, and that he composes his tunes in right around ten different South African dialects. He urged the fans not to play with him, saying he loves learning languages and he would talk however he sees fit.
