Total joy swept across Mzansi after a video circulated online showing American rapper Fat Joe vibing to Felo Le Tee and Myztro’s “66” song.

What makes this extraordinary is that Fat Joe is an accomplished musician and from a place in the world where musicians are rated highly.

An amapiano song, “66” was a hit on release and was even dragged into a narrative when Prince Kaybee shared an unreleased song titled “666.”

Interestingly, Amapiano is the in-thing in South Africa right now, snapping others from other genres into its orbit. The release of a video showing Fat Joe vibing to the genre has somehow increased its prestige.

This definitely isn’t the first time an American musician of note has been recorded vibing to an amapiano song by a South African, though.

Apparently, Late last year (2020), Diddy had been caught on video rocking a song by piano king Kabza De Small. Months later, he would be seen in another video rocking “Ke Star” by Focalistic, another South African musician.

At the rate amapiano is being endorsed around the world, DJ Maphorisa’s dream of having an amapiano category at the Grammy Awards just might come to pass. Who knows?
